Brianna Durbin

For this exhibition, my work consists of a particular theme; I wanted to portray the concept of destructive habits and their potential consequences.  Both paintings depict such a habit resulting from the hand of the “victim”, which is indicating that we are all ultimately solely responsible for our own actions and choices. In all three pieces, the habit or addiction portrayed, which is smoking or drinking, is all-consuming and definitive. The full face or body of the main subject is never depicted in order to stress that these behaviors affect the wholeness of the person, or even their ability to be recognized.
