Lycoming Welcomes the Class of 2010
On Friday, August 25th, Lycoming College officially opened its gates to the 406 members of its newest class. The 380 freshman and 26 transfers were welcomed by Freshman Convocation speaker and 1980 Lyco alum, Tom Woodruff. Woodruff is an academy award winner and the co-founder of Amalgamated Dynamics, a studio which does animatronics and special effects for Hollywood movies. The class is composed of students from as far as California, Michigan, The Virgin Islands and Jamaica. Popular anticipated majors include Business, Biology, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Art and Communication. |

Warrior Football Celebrates Second Win
With two wins already under their belt, the Lycoming College Football team is headed for another great year. The Warriors kicked their season off with a win against Juniata. Quarterback Glenn Smith led the Warriors to a victory, by scoring two touchdowns. The Lycoming Warriors defeated Juniata with a 20-15 point lead. 17 of those 20 points were scored in the first two quarters of the game. Game two of the season was against Widener. Last season, Widener beat the Warriors 15-7, but this time the tables were turned. The Warriors came through in the fourth quarter, and plowed ahead of Widener with a 15-12 win. |

Lycoming Hires New Men's Lacrosse Coach
Brian Anken is the newly announced head coach of the Lycoming College men's lacrosse program, making him the Warriors' fourth coach in the program's history. Anken comes to Lycoming from Mars Hill College in North Carolina where he was the head lacrosse coach for three years. Anken was a prominent goaltender and scholar athlete at Medaille College in Buffalo, New York. He came to Lycoming because, "this gives me the opportunity to build a nationally recognized program and continue the winning tradition that Lycoming Lacrosse and the entire athletic program has established," said Anken. As far as this season goes, "We expect to compete for a conference championship and a spot in the NCAA playoffs immediately. Long term we expect to continuously compete for both a MAC championship and a NCAA National Championship," shared Anken.

Westminster University Exchange Program Underway

Four British students found their way to Williamsport this August. Amina Mohamed, Samira Said Mahamed, Sharé Mason and Theresa Chukwuemkea are the first students to arrive as part of the new student exchange program between the Institute for Management Studies at Lycoming College and the University of Westminster Business School in London. This new agreement will afford business, accounting and economics students the opportunity to study for a semester in one of the greatest financial centers and capital cities in the world. The first Lycoming College students to study at the University of Westminster, Jess Madonna and Daniel Jackson returned to the United States in June. In addition, international students from London will enrich the college and local community.
