Lycoming’s accounting program is one of just a few liberal arts college accounting programs to be fully accredited by the prestigious Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). To earn the accreditation, accounting programs must pass certain standards of excellence with particular emphasis on curriculum, placement of students, and student performance.
The department is required to have certain learning goals that can be measured to indicate progress toward accomplishing these goals. The goals include:
- Placement of students
- Performance on standardized tests
- Internship performance
- Field Knowledge – this is different for each area in business administration including, but not limited to accounting, marketing, and finance.
- Critical Thinking - understanding and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data
- Technical Skills - this includes Access, Excel, Power Point and Word. The faculty incorporates these areas into the course work so that all students have achieved a certain level of competency.
